In 2016 I co-founded a startup called Blub Blub and we're helping kids improve their speech and language skills with mobile apps. We started with a simple iOS app and have evolved into a subscription business, employing more than 25 people with one third being engineers. The talk is meant for anyone, engineers, designers and product owners, as it will take you through the journey starting as an early stage startup to incorporated, privately funded business. I will include tips and tricks we have learned on the way building an app for kids, building an engineering team, App Store challenges (maybe we can even touch Android a bit :), and a bit of business perspective. If you have (or don't) an idea, but would like to start something of your own, this is the talk for you. If you are already doing this, it is also a talk for you.
I would love to see this talk on UIKonf! I think such talks become even more interesting if the presenter gives an honest and reflective account of what made the business successful (or not). Sometimes it's a lucky break, sometimes it's a great idea, sometime it's a great team, usually a combination of all.
The business is always a living organism, so it's hard to say whether it is successful or not. For now we treat success as "keep on growing". You are right, for us, it was a combination of it all, including some luck.
Will be awesome to hear your story! Consinder talking about the fails you've encountered in the context of mobile development in your company.Log in to comment
